Damage Reported In Meeker Co. Following Saturday's Storms

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – After a day of funnel clouds and heavy rains, at least one Minnesota county in the central part of the state has reported damage.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office said Sunday that several residents reported damage following Saturday's severe storms.

One couple told officials their house sustained roof, window and water damage, and that their out buildings were all damaged or destroyed.

A neighbor said a funnel cloud had appeared in the area, and county officials said the National Weather Service reported the strong possibility of a tornado.

The couple estimated the damage at about $80,000.

More damage was reported by the owner of a farm on the 65000 block of Highway 12. A barn there sustained significant roof damage, officials said.

In the area from Litchfield to Darwin and along Highway 12, there were several reports of roof damage, downed power lines and trees.

Heavy rains also caused flooding on many streets in Litchfield, officials said.
