MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A wrong-way driver sent one person to the hospital after causing a four vehicle wreck near the Palmetto Expressway.

Around 2 a.m., Chelsea Halter was reportedly driving eastbound in the westbound lane of State Road 826 when she caused several cars to crash into each other near the Golden Glades interchange.

"They tried to get out-of-the-way and they swerved, lost control and they were involved in a crash involving four vehicles," said FHP Lt. Yosdany Veloz.

"In the middle lane ahead of me I noticed the debris, in the air (there was) smoke, and everything in front of me. It was like a movie and there were vehicles spinning towards me at full speed," said one man who end up plowing into another car.

He said he wanted to move out-of-the-way, but there was a motorcyclist right next to him.

"So I had to make a decision. If I wanted to hit a vehicle or swerve to the left and avoid all the vehicles and crush this motorcyclist," he said.

One driver was injured and taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Halter, 24, made her way onto I-95 where she drove south in the northbound lanes, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. She was finally stopped on I-95 at the Dolphin Expressway.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said the car traveled 10 miles going the wrong way.

FHP says Halter was not in a wreck herself but that her wrong way drive is the sole reason others crashed.

Halter is now facing a slew of charges including of DUI and reckless driving.
