POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) --Dozens of voters and students were  allowed back into a Broward school that was evacuated following a hoax bomb threat Tuesday morning.

Voting at Pompano Beach Middle School was disrupted for almost two hours due to the incident.

Just before 9 a.m. the school was closed down and evacuated.

The students were taken to Chester Park nearby while Broward Elections officials secured the voting machines.

Just before 10:30 a.m., students and voters were allowed back into the school after authorities determined it was a hoax.

One teacher told CBS4's Joan Murray that at least two people were unable to vote.

"This was an emergency situation and we encourage everyone who wasn't able to vote to return.  We are open until 7 p.m.," said Broward Elections Supervisor Dr. Brenda Snipes who showed up at the polling spot.

A little more than 400 people are registered to vote at that precinct with approximately 160 people expected in person, according to the Elections office.

Elections officials said many of them early vote or use absentee voting.
