MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Traffic alert, Palmetto Expressway drivers.

There's another change to the roadway happening this weekend. But this one could actually relieve congestion on the busy State Road 826.

Here's the shift; on Saturday morning all the southbound lanes of the Palmetto will be straightened out after West Flagler Street. Currently the lanes curve slightly to the left. Now they will be a straight line of travel lanes.

But before the relief comes the gridlock.

Friday night, crews will prep for the traffic change by closing down portions of SR 826.

Here are the closures:

All southbound SR 826 travel lanes will be closed at the eastbound SR 836 ramp between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The eastbound SR 836 ramps to southbound SR 826 will be close between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

The westbound SR 836 flyover bridge to southbound SR 826 will be closed between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

And finally the West Flagler Street ramp to southbound SR 826 will be closed between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
