Sewer Main Break Clogs Fort Lauderdale Streets

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – City of Fort Lauderdale crews are working hard to fix a sewer main break that flooded a Fort Lauderdale neighborhood Tuesday night.

The twenty-inch sewer main break happened at 540 NW 4th Ave. at the Regal Trace Apartments.

City officials are advising motorists find an alternate route around the area. Pedestrians are being told to avoid standing water at the site of the sewer main break.

The city, in consultation with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, is also issuing a precautionary advisory to avoid water-related recreational activities along the New River from approximately NW 7th Ave. to NW 4th Ave.

There is no timetable on when the break will be fixed. The precautionary advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
