Midtown Museum Breaks Ground For Permanent Home

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Local leaders broke ground for the permanent home of the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA) located in Midtown.
Monday afternoon, Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado along with Frank Carollo, and Willy Gort, attended the groundbreaking ceremony at 61 NE 41st Street.
The new 37,500 square-foot building will have flexible exhibition space and a 15,000-square-foot sculpture garden.
It's a property fitting for the museum's mission of providing an open and dynamic platform for the most experimental artists of today.
The building, designed by Spanish firm Aranguren & Gallegos Arquitectos, is set to open to the public in 2017.
