Miami-Dade Firefighters Hurt In Turnpike Crash

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Several Miami-Dade Fire Rescue firefighters were taken to Jackson Memorial South following an early morning crash.

It happened in the southbound lanes of the Turnpike near the Quail Roost Drive exit.

Moments before the crash, the ambulance had stopped to assist a driver who had hydroplaned on the highway which was slick from heavy downpours. They then got back into their ambulance which also hydroplaned and ended up crashing into a wall.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said three crew members were taken to the hospital. Two were treated and released.
