Meteorologists Watching Tropical Wave In Atlantic

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Atlantic Hurricane season is beginning to get a little more active.

Meteorologists are tracking a tropical wave that has been given a high chance of developing into a tropical system over the next five days.

The National Hurricane Center reports the shower and thunderstorm activity is located 850 miles west southwest of the Cape Verde Islands.

It has shown signs of organization, but is not quickly intensifying.

Experts believe, as it continues to move west over the next few days, that it will be able to gain strength.

Current movement is west at 10 to 15 miles per hour.

The National Hurricane Center said the wave has a 30 percent chance of formation, which is considered a medium chance, over the next 48 hours.

However, over the next five days, the chance of formation goes to 70 percent.
