Marlins' Samson 1st Contestant Kicked Off Survivor

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Much like the Miami Marlins playoff chances in recent years, team president David Samson's appearance on CBS' hit show Survivor was over before it even really got started.

Samson was the first contestant voted off the island during Wednesday night's episode on CBS. His teammates said they "feel better" that he's gone and that while he is smart, "he is a schemer."

The show is set in a Phillipine jungle and was filmed last summer while the Marlins were suffering through the team's second worst season in franchise history.

Samson took time away from the team to shoot the show, but his team's poor performance on the show was striking to the show's host, Jeff Probst.

"It is unbelievable how far behind they are," Probst said of Samson's team, according to the Miami Herald. This is "one of the worst performances out of the gate ever."

It's possible Samson will show up in another episode, but as of now, he's off the island and the show.
