FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Highlighting a familiar theme from his time in office, Governor Rick Scott was in South Florida on Friday to help a business to get off the ground.

The governor was part of a ribbon cutting ceremony to open JetSmarter's new headquarters in downtown Ft. Lauderdale.

The JetSmarter app lets you order up a charter jet as easy as ordering an Uber - if you can afford it.

"First off to have more than 100 employees is a big deal," Scott said. "Two hundred employees is a big deal. There's not many companies that get there. But I wanna congratulate Sergei for the over 100 employees right here in Ft. Lauderdale."

"I'm very excited to not only change the landscape of Florida," added JetSmarter founder and CEO Sergey Petrossov. "We're a global business. We're touching the world. We're in Europe. We're in the Middle East. And we're very excited. And hopefully in five years we'll have 3,000 employees here and we might be the biggest company here in Ft. Lauderdale."

A Florida native, Petrossov is a University of Florida graduate.

Though 98.5 percent of us probably won't be able to afford a membership to JetSmarter it is an indicator of our present and future, convenience through technology and maybe one day never having to wait another TSA line again.

Petrossov said he believes in seven to 10 years airplanes will become hybrid electric and costs of seats will be down to maybe $75 to $100 dollars inside of a 500 mile flight.

That means one day you could be take a private jet from Fort Lauderdale to Atlanta, which is roughly 600 miles away, for a little over a hundred dollars which is much cheaper than a flight on a commercial carrier.
