Ft. Lauderdale Launches "Click It Or Ticket" Campaign

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Drivers in Ft. Lauderdale are urged to buckle up while behind the wheel.

The city's police department has announced that they are taking part in the Department of Transportation's "Click it or Ticket Challenge." Now through November 30th, the city's officers will crack down on drivers and passengers who are not buckled up.

Deaths involving non-use of seat belts are more prevalent at night than during the daytime.

The National Center for Statistics and Analysis recorded seat belt use rate at 87.2 percent for the state of Florida.
