BARTOW, Fla. (CBSMiami/AP) — Dozens of dogs and hundreds of cats were confiscated in two separate cases of alleged animal cruelty in Florida.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office say a Crime Stoppers tip led them Wednesday to discover a dog fighting ring being run out of a former Bartow bar.

The Ledger reports that many of the 69 dogs found at the bar and at a suspect's home had scars and recent wounds from fights. Authorities say many of the dogs may be euthanized.

Meanwhile, a Milton couple who had 225 cats removed from their home last year were sentenced to three years' probation after pleading no contest to multiple counts of animal cruelty. Santa Rosa County authorities tell the Pensacola News Journal 86 of the cats were euthanized.
