SW Dade Security Guard Accidentally Shot, Killed Woman
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Miami-Dade police is investigating a shooting that turned deadly Friday at a busy shopping center in Southwest Miami-Dade County.
Police swarmed the Seastone Shopping center off SW 184 Street near the turnpike after a 911 call came in of shots fired.
When police arrived they found a 62-year-old woman shot in the back inside the corner establishment.
The unit has no signage and darkly tinted windows.
"We know she was shot by a security guard but don't know specifics. There was no altercation beforehand," said detective Angel Rodriguez.
The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died.
Homicide investigators now are trying to figure out how it happened and why.
"We received information there were gaming machines inside, but we need a search warrant for that part of the investigation," said Rodriguez.
