Central Florida Woman Bit By Bear

LAKE MARY (CBSMiami/AP) – An Orlando woman is recovering after being bit by a bear while on a walk with her dog.

The unnamed woman's dog, after spotting the bear, tried to run after it but the tug from the chase caused the woman to fall, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said Thursday.

The bear bit the woman on the upper arm and left.

The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The dog was unharmed.

Wildlife officials have set up traps in area of Lake Mary, a suburb of Orlando, in which residents have regular bear encounters.

Earlier this year a woman was mauled by a bear in Lake Mary.

Three people were later charged with misdemeanors for feeding bears.
