Bodies Of Two Florida Panthers Found

NAPLES (CBSMiami) — Florida wildlife officials recovered the remains of a two Florida panthers over the weekend.

Officials say a male panther, approximately five to six months old, which had been hit by a vehicle was discovered Sunday in Collier County.

Also on Sunday, the body of a second panther, a male believed to be four to five years old, was found along I-75 in Lee County.  It too had been struck and killed by a vehicle.

So far in 2016, 16 Florida panthers have been found dead, all but two were killed by vehicles.

Florida panthers once roamed the entire southeastern U.S., but only around 180 remain in the wild.
