Report: Archie Panjabi Leaving 'The Good Wife'

Emmy Award-winning actress Archie Panjabi will be leaving CBS hit drama "The Good Wife" after six seasons, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Panjabi, best known for playing inscrutable private investigator Kalinda Sharma on the show has signed a new deal with 20th Century Fox TV.

A new deal that may promise a lead role in a new drama series.

“Archie is an Emmy award-winning dramatic actress, and rightly so,” said Sharon Klein, 20th’s executive vice president of casting. “Her work on The Good Wife has been extraordinary, and the time has come for her to star in a project of her own. We couldn’t be happier that it will be with us.”

Panjabi's exit comes only months after Josh Charles' character Will Gardner was killed off the show in the season 5 finale. Hopefully her exit won't be met with as much shock and outrage as Charles'.

While Panjabi prepares to leave the Emmy Award-winning series, showrunners Robert and Michelle King still have a lot more planned for the star.

“Archie is an amazing actress who helped build Kalinda from the ground up as an enigmatic, powerful and sexy character," they both stated. "It’s been a pleasure to write for her, and we’ll be sad to see her go; but we still have her for the rest of season six, so let’s not exhaust our goodbyes yet. We look forward to meeting all the wonderful new characters Archie brings to the screen. But either way, we’re keeping the boots.”

And no worries "The Good Wife" fans, lead star Julianna Margulies (who won an Emmy for her performance this year) isn't going anywhere!

There's still a whole season left, so don't miss Panjabi on "The Good Wife" at 9PM ET/PT Sundays on CBS.
