Pursuit Ends As Assault Suspect Crashes Into Fire Hydrant

WILMINGTON (CBSLA.com) — A police pursuit came to an end Thursday night when the suspect crashed his vehicle into a fire hydrant in Wilmington.

The pursuit call came in at 11:02 p.m. on Thursday, with the suspect wanted for assault with a deadly weapon.

There was reportedly one passenger in the vehicle.

At about 11:10 p.m., the suspect hit a fire hydrant, disabling the vehicle and unleashing a large amount of water.

The hydrant was located at Sandison st. and Island Ave. in Wilmington.

LAPD officers said that at one point after the collision, they were unable to see the vehicle's passenger, due to the large amount of water.

Three individuals were taken into custody at 11:15 p.m.
