Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle On 710 Freeway In Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Authorities are searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal collision with a pedestrian.

City News Service reports that the fatal collision occurred at 4:40 a.m. Saturday on the northbound 710 Freeway near Artesia Boulevard.

The pedestrian was walking on a transition road when he was struck by a vehicle, and fell into the lane as the driver fled, according to a California Highway Patrol accident report.

The victim's name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The accident remains under investigation, CHP officer Monica Posada said.
