Inmate Who Escaped From Minimum-Security Conservation Camp Apprehended

AZUSA (CBSLA.com) — An inmate who escaped from a minimum-security conservation camp in Azusa more than a week ago has been taken into custody, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said.

Santa Monica police apprehended Kevin Shann, 40, at 9:25 p.m. May 31.

Shann was discovered missing from Julius Klein Conservation Camp during a routine security check at 11:25 p.m. May 25.

Shann, who will be returned to the CDCR, was serving a four-year sentence for a first-degree burglary conviction and was expected to be released in August 2016.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney will handle prosecution for his escape.
