Metro To Vote On Proposed Expansion Of 710 Freeway

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — More than 100 residents are expected to voice concerns during a meeting Thursday regarding the proposed expansion of the 710 Freeway.

According to Metro, plans to expand the freeway have raised opposition towards the effect construction will have on homes, businesses and traffic control.

In order to move forward with the proposal, board members have urged Caltrans to evaluate the addition of a high-frequency Metro Rapid bus and traffic control measures on city streets.

Caltrans will also be required to create an alternative design to ensure that homes, businesses and community resources will not be displaced by construction of the freeway.

Board members explained they will not release additional funding to pay for the report unless Caltrans agrees to study those concerns.

At 9 a.m., officials will vote on the expansion plan during a meeting held within the Metro Board Room.
