Man Suspected Of Torching Leasing Office In Lake Forest Is Caught On Tape

LAKE FOREST (CBSLA.com) — A search is underway for the person responsible for setting a leasing office on fire in Lake Forest, authorities said.

The Orange County Fire Authority released security footage of the man suspected of torching the office at the Saddleback Apartments three weeks ago.

Different views of the crime from three security cameras mounted in the office show the suspect moving back and forth, spraying a fire extinguisher, hauling out a cash drawer and other items, and lighting furniture on fire.

At one point, the camera grabs a shot of the suspect pulling down the bandanna covering his face. A few seconds later, he runs outside.

The incident happened 10-feet from Erika Jimenez's front door.

"I got scared because I thought it was going to explode," she said. "I didn't know what was going to happen because I live right there."

Investigators haven't released any tips since the fire.

"It's scary because I thought it's safe," Jimenez said.
