LAPD: 18-Year-Old Surrenders In Connection With Fatal Hit-And-Run In Sherman Oaks

SHERMAN OAKS (CBSLA.com) — An 18-year-old has surrendered to police in connection with a fatal hit and run in Sherman Oaks that claimed the life of a 19-year-old woman, authorities said.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to CBS Los Angeles that an 18-year-old woman turned herself in to police in Van Nuys.

The woman's identity has not been released.

The crash near the corner of Moorpark Street and Matilija Avenue in Sherman Oaks killed Nysmuh Taylor of Sylmar on Oct. 4.

Taylor was with her boyfriend at the time. The couple had been dropped off at the location moments before she was killed.

After the impact, the driver returned to the scene, rolled down the window, looked at Taylor on the ground and drove off again, police said.

The suspect police said was accompanied by her attorney on Tuesday. She has since been identified by police as Lerone Natalia Herscu of Sherman Oaks.

Police said Herscu has been booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. Her bail has been set at $50,000.
