Former LA County Sheriff's Deputy Pleads Not Guilty To Child Porn Charges

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A former Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy pleaded not guilty Wednesday to two felony child pornography charges.

Lorne Reed, 32, was charged with one count each of distributing child pornography and possession of child pornography.

Prosecutors say Reed shared child pornography on the Internet in April.

More than 45 child pornography files were found on his laptop computer when his Santa Fe Springs home was raided last month, prosecutors said.

Reed, who is free on bond, is scheduled to return to Los Angeles Superior Court on Oct. 6 for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence for him to stand trial.

Reed faces up to five years and eight months in state prison if convicted as charged, officials from the District Attorney's Office said.
