Officials said a pedestrian was fatally struck on the transition road between the freeways.

Their identity is being withheld pending family notification.

At one point, CHP officers had to run a break in traffic on the southbound 405 Freeway, which prompted a backup in the morning commute.

Police issued a SigAlert for the transition road from the southbound 405 Freeway to the northbound 710 Freeway, which was lifted shortly after 9 a.m.

The far right lane of the southbound 405 Freeway will also remain closed until further notice.

No other injuries were reported.
