DUI Suspect Accused Of Slamming Into Pedestrian In Costa Mesa

COSTA MESA (CBSLA.com) — A suspected drunken driver struck a pedestrian Sunday in Costa Mesa, police reported.

Officials say the crash happened at 1:46 a.m., moments after the man was asked to leave a nearby bar because he was intoxicated.

The pedestrian was crossing the street near the Commissary bar, located at 2968 Randolph Avenue, when the suspect made contact with his vehicle, Costa Mesa police Sgt. Cameron Phillips said.

The driver reportedly sped off and was later arrested. Police have not yet identified him.

The pedestrian was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana with moderate injuries, Sgt. David Casarez said.
