Closures Set For 405 Freeway In Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Motorists who use the 405 Freeway during overnight hours will want to find an alternate way through Long Beach this week.

All lanes of the 405 will be closed in both directions between Cherry Avenue and Lakewood Boulevard for construction at the Temple Avenue overpass, adjacent to Long Beach Airport, CalTrans officials said.

The work will begin Monday night at 8 p.m., with lanes gradually closing until a full freeway closure in effect in both directions by midnight. The drill will be the same on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights.

CalTrans said the northbound lanes should reopen each morning at 4 a.m., with the southbound lanes available an hour later.

The work is part of a $2.5 million project to demolish and replace part of a damaged overpass.
