Bogart Fire Burning Near Cherry Valley Increases To 1,250 Acres

CHERRY VALLEY (CBSLA.com/AP) — A fast-moving wildfire continued to burn Wednesday through drought-dry hills near Banning.

The so-called Bogart Fire has charred 1,250 acres and remains at 20 percent containment, according to Riverside County firefighters.

The wildfire erupted shortly before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

About 700 people were forced to evacuate from their homes.

Evacuation orders were lifted around 10 p.m., officials said.

Two people were hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
