Bird Rescue Organization Looking For Interns

SAN PEDRO (CBSLA.com) — The International Bird Rescue organization is putting out the word that they need interns.

The internship program is open to those over 18 in the San Pedro and Wilmington area who have an interest in caring for sick and injured birds.

The non-profit group says they see between 1,000-2,000 birds injured (by oil slicks, fishing line, fish hooks) every year and workers are always needed.

"It's an opportunity to reach out to the local community and really try to involve the people of San Pedro and Wilmington in the rehabilitation of the birds we do here," said Julie Skoglund, manager of the International Bird Rescue.

The organization received a $28,000 grant to fund the internship program.
