710 Freeway Briefly Closed During Vehicle Pursuit

LOS ANGELES (AP) — All lanes of Interstate 710 in Los Angeles were briefly closed during evening rush hour as California Highway Patrol officers pursued a stolen vehicle suspect.

CHP officers attempted to pull the 2002 silver BMW over Tuesday at about 4 p.m. According to investigators, the driver refused to stop and continued driving on the interstate before coming to a halt about eight minutes later.

The suspect then allegedly ran onto the freeway, leading both southbound and northbound lanes to be closed.

CHP public information officer Kerri Rivas says officers used a stun gun to detain the man. No information was immediately available on potential charges.

The interstate was reopened by about 4:20 p.m. and did not appear to have a major impact on traffic.
