$50K Reward Offered For Information In Fatal South LA Shooting

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A $50,000 reward was offered for information in the murder of a man in the South Los Angeles area.

Almicar Ponce, 21, was standing on a sidewalk in the 4000 block of South Wall Street, with a friend at about 2:30 a.m. on June 21 when he was shot in the head, Los Angeles police officials said.

The shots were fired from two vehicles that approached northbound on Wall Street from 43rd Street. Almicar's friend dover for cover during the shooting and was not struck, police said.

Ponce was taken to a hospital where he was declared brain dead and placed on life support. He was pronounced dead on June 26 at 3:50 a.m. after being taken off life support.

The shooters were last seen fleeing the scene north on Wall Street.
