Man arrested after 3 injured in Long Beach Shoreline Village shooting

3 people shot in Long Beach Shoreline Village

A man was arrested after three people, including a 14-year-old boy, were wounded Sunday night in a shooting at the waterfront area of Shoreline Village in Long Beach.

Around 10:50 p.m., Long Beach police responded to the 400 block of Shoreline Village Drive to a call of shots fired near a restaurant.

A witness told KCAL News that he heard rapid gunfire and saw people run down the dock and leave in a boat. "The other group scattered and ran up the boardwalk and into the Yard House and up to Tequila Jack's and immediately, just chaos. Tables turned over, dishes dropping, breaking -- people screaming, running, the entire village shut down," he said.

A woman was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries to her upper body and a 14-year-old boy and a man took themselves to separate hospitals on their own for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Police said all victims are expected to survive. It's unclear if the victims knew each other or if they were bystanders caught in gunfire.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, a preliminary investigation revealed that an "altercation" occurred within a large group near the boat, which the alleged shooter later used to flee the scene.

The suspected shooter was identified as Joshua Eduardo Jones, 43 of Apple Valley. He was the sole occupant of a light-colored vessel that was eventually found by police.

He was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle and carrying a loaded firearm in a public place.

Jones is also accused of being a felon in possession of a firearm and a prohibited possessor in possession of ammunition.

Jones is being held at Long Beach Jail on no bail.
