2-Hour Pursuit All Over O.C. Ends With CHP Bashing In Car's Windows

WESTMINSTER (CBSLA.com) — A pursuit led police from several agencies through several Orange County cities Sunday that lasted more than two hours and then ended with the CHP getting aggressive.

The driver of a stolen Chrysler 300 sedan led police through Anaheim, Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa and a few other cities.

The chase started in Buena Park when officers located a stolen vehicle at around 4:30 p.m. The pursuit got dangerous on the PCH in Newport Beach and that's when ground units decided to back off. The suspect came close to hitting people in crosswalks and cars in intersections as many people were out on a beautiful Sunday. Police continued to follow the driver by helicopter.

CHP eventually engaged in the ground pursuit again. It eventually went on the southbound 5, on the northbound 5 and then merged onto the 405 where it came to an end in a ravine in Westminster. A CHP officer bashed the back window in with a baton repeatedly to coax the man out of the car and he eventually surrendered.
