Third Body Pulled From Keweenaw Bay Off Lake Superior

CHASSELL, Mich. (AP) - The body of a 43-year-old Ishpeming man has been pulled from about 280 feet of water in Keweenaw Bay off Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

State police say a remotely operated vehicle recovered Steven Chartre's body Tuesday near the sunken boat he had been in with his young son and another man.

They were on a fishing trip when the boat went missing Sept. 17.

Two volunteer search and rescue organizations using sonar found the sunken boat about 12:45 p.m. Saturday and recovered the bodies of 9-year-old Ethan Chartre and 61-year-old Keith Karvonen of Atlantic Mine.

Investigators have been unable to determine what caused the boat to sink.
