MSU Student Found Dead In Apartment

EAST LANSING (WWJ) - Foul play is not suspected in the death of Michigan State University student.

East Lansing police were called to an off-campus apartment building, in the 200 block of Arbor Glen Drive, at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday where they discovered the body of 28-year-old Kelly Smith.

According to an East Lansing Police media release, Smith's death did not appear suspicious. Police said a preliminary investigation indicated she likely died of "natural causes" — but they did not elaborate.

She reportedly did have some known medical issues.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

Police expressed condolences to Smith's family and friends.

Smith is the fifth MSU student to die on or near campus during this academic year.
