Man With 13 Drunk Driving Convictions Charged In Crash That Left Girl In Critical Condition

SUMPTER TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- A man has been charged after a drunk driving crash in Wayne County that critically injured a 12-year-old girl.

Police say Charles Cahill -- who has been convicted of driving drunk 13 times -- was speeding in Sumpter Township on Wednesday night when he rear-ended a family car, injuring the girl.

Cahill was reportedly driving on a suspended license, along with an open container of alcohol in the car. He allegedly also had just been involved with a domestic issue.

The girl remains in critical condition. Cahill is being held in jail on $1 million bond.

Cahill will be back in court on August 10.
