Man Sentenced To 25 Years For Molesting Girls At Macomb County Daycare Center

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ/AP) - A 67-year-old man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for molesting three young girls at his wife's Macomb County daycare center.

The Macomb Daily reports some of the victims' parents addressed 67-year-old Stanley Duncan during the sentencing Tuesday after more than three years of court proceedings.

One girl's mother says there's "no medicine" for Duncan's actions. A father says Duncan caused "emotional destruction" that will require the girls to get help throughout their lives.

Duncan was convicted in August of five counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and four counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct. His victims were 3 and 4-year-old girls in 2010 and 2011 and another girl in the late 1990s.

Duncan's sentence is the mandatory minimum due to the girls' ages.

A jury acquitted Duncan's 64-year-old wife of criminal sexual conduct, convicting her of failing to license her daycare center. She told police during questioning that she once walked in on her husband while he was molesting one of the girls and told him to stop.

A trial was halted in 2012 while prosecutors appealed the judge's refusal to let the youngest girl testify after she said she didn't know the difference between the truth and a lie.

Jurors last month heard a reading of her testimony.

Police said Duncan admitted to sexually assaulting several young children, and investigators believe the sexual abuse at the daycare may go back as far as twenty years.
