Man, 75, Sentenced To Prison For Shooting Death Of Ex-wife

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - A 75-year-old man has been sentenced in the fatal shooting of his ex-wife at their western Michigan home.

The Kalamazoo Gazette reports that a Kalamazoo County circuit court judge ruled Tuesday that Jimmy L. Thrasher will spend 14 years to 25 years in prison for the slaying of 74-year-old Grace Thrasher.

Thrasher pleaded no contest in January to second-degree murder and felony firearm use. A no contest plea isn't an admission of guilt but is treated as such during sentencing.

Grace Thrasher was shot to death May 4, 2015 in Texas Township, south of Grand Rapids.

The newspaper reports that Thrasher told investigators that he and his ex-wife tussled over a shotgun during an argument and it accidentally went off.
