Leaders & Innovators: Mark Smolinski

MARK SMOLINSKI: Co-founder and Principal of G2 Consulting Group in Troy. G2 is a geotechnical, environmental, and construction engineering services firm with offices in Ann Arbor and Chicago. For two decades G2 has delivered hundreds of telecommunications, land development, and civil infrastructure projects across the United States. Smolinski has provided client maintenance and project management for 28 years. He directs the environmental group, which specializes in brownfield phase I and II environmental consulting, site assessments, hazardous materials, surveys, remediation, and project oversight. Brownfield projects overseen by Smolinski include the new ArvinMeritor world headquarters and sunroof plant on the site of the former Fisher Guide plant in Detroit, and the Cesar Chavez Charter School at a former oil bulk storage site. He Smolinski has managed the environmental and geotechnical aspects of several wireless communication market build-outs, including Verizon Wireless, VoiceStream, Nextel, AT&T Wireless, and Sprint. G2 has completed several campus improvement and infrastructure projects at the University of Michigan and recently completed work on the Arbor Hills shopping center. Under Smolinski's leadership, G2 Consulting's revenue increased 31 percent in 2012 and 20 percent in 2013.
