Good People Popcorn Owner Aims For Big Business In Detroit

Missing a treat from their childhood, Crystal Mott teamed up with her sister and cousin to start a popcorn shop in downtown Detroit five years ago.

"We all love popcorn. Used to eat it all the time growing up. There used to be a popcorn shop in downtown Detroit years ago and we just felt like it was time for another one. We should be able to get the popcorn that we like right here at home," said Mott.

Good People Popcorn started with three flavors: caramel corn, cheese corn and butter -- now they have 17.

They use real butter and Michigan sugar in all of their products.

Their aim right now is to build public awareness for the business. "Even though we've been here five years I still run into people who were just downtown who say 'I've never heard of your business'," said Mott.

They're also eager to implement their fundraiser program in area schools.

Visit their store at 633 Beaubien.
