EMS Tech Robbed While On Emergency Call In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - It appears even the Emergency Medical System crews aren't safe.

An EMS Medical Technician worker was robbed Tuesday afternoon on Gratiot, near Crane, on the city's east side according to Detroit police.

The worker was providing medical treatment to a female patient, who was with the 51-year old male suspect. While the victim was being treated in the EMS rig, the suspect took personal property from inside the EMS truck.

As the EMS tech tried to stop the suspect, and he was assaulted. Members of Homeland Security were in the area and detained the suspect a few blocks away.

The personal property was recovered.

The suspect was released into the custody of Detroit police officers.
