Chances of Levy, Reid, Warford Playing Sunday Are 'Limited'

The Lions are two days away from their regular season opener at San Diego, but they could potentially be at least three major contributors away from full health.

Linebacker DeAndre Levy (hip), guard Larry Warford (high ankle sprain) and defensive tackle Caraun Reid (high ankle sprain) have all been limited for at least two weeks. Warford and Reid have been out even longer than that.

"Those guys haven't practiced," said head coach Jim Caldwell. "Their chances of playing are obviously limited."

During the open portion of practice on Friday, Levy did not participate. Warford and Reid both worked with trainers off to the side, running shuttles and sprinting out of their stances.

Since his rookie year in 2013, Warford has started at right guard in every game he's played in. Taylor Boggs is listed as his backup on the Lions' depth chart.

On the defensive side, Levy led the team in tackles last year, but has been dealing with a non-specified hip injury for a couple of weeks. His backup is listed as Josh Bynes.

And Caraun Reid, at defensive tackle, is listed as Haloti Ngata's backup. Ngata had also been previously limited in practice, but has been participating this week.

"Haloti's practiced both days and has done well," Caldwell said. "We anticipate having his services."
