2 Alleged Intruders Hospitalized, Shot By Detroit Homeowner

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police in Detroit are investigating a shooting Tuesday afternoon at a home on Outer Drive.

Officer Jennifer Moreno said a homeowner claims he was sitting in a back room of the house, at around 1:30 p.m., when he was confronted by a pair of intruders.

"Two unknown suspects broke in through a window," Moreno said. "The victim fired shots at the suspects, striking them both, and he actually held one of the suspects for officers."

The neighbors called the police, Moreno said, and both injured suspects were taken to a local hospital where they remain in police custody. It was not immediately clear how badly they were hurt.

Moreno did not confirm reports that the homeowner is a retired police officer. He was not injured in the incident.

The shooting remains under investigation.

No names were released.
