Up To 20-Foot Snowbanks Remain Along Trail Ridge Road

DENVER (CBS4) - Every trip across Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park is amazing, but it's especially awesome right now as you can still find snowbanks up to 20 feet deep near the top.

An El Niño winter brought above-average snow to the region and a cool, wet spring allowed the snowpack to build well into the month of May.

But temperatures are warming quickly across Colorado even at the higher elevations where readings above 12,000 feet are nearing 50 degrees in the day and staying around freezing at night.

It will takes a few more weeks for these snowbanks to disappear but now is the time to make the trip if you hope to see them at their tallest.
