Unruly Passenger On Flight To Denver Causes Return Landing

DENVER (CBS4) - A flight heading to Denver from Washington D.C. on Monday night was forced to land shortly after takeoff because of an unruly passenger.

The man tried to rush the cockpit of the United Airlines Boeing 737, and other passengers helped to stop him.

The flight left Washington Dulles International Airport with 33 passengers and was expected to land in Denver International Airport at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

A United Airlines spokesman explained, "Flight 1074 returned to the airport following takeoff on Monday evening after a passenger failed to comply with crew instructions."

YouTube video taken by another passenger shows the behavior of the passenger who caused the grounding.

That passenger was detained by law enforcement upon landing, and taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

The plane landed in Denver early Tuesday morning but was not carrying any passengers.

The remaining travelers will be accommodated on Tuesday morning.
