Driver Hurt When Truck Crashes, Catches Fire On Interstate 70
DENVER (CBS4) - A semi truck traveling on Interstate 70 crashed and caught fire in the eastbound lanes near Pecos Street just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday. The driver was hurt and the cleanup effort led to a major traffic backup during Denver's evening rush hour.
Only one lane of traffic was getting past the fire scene for an extended period. At 5 p.m. there were still major backups on the interstate.
DFD crew's extinguished a fire at I-70 & Pecos after a semi-truck accident. Unfortunately the driver was injured & is being evaluated at the hospital. The driver was taken to the hospital and his condition wasn't immediately available.
The cab of the truck was destroyed and part of the trailer burned, but firefighters extinguished the flames quickly.
