Trinidad Police Officer Shoots, Kills Suspect In Trailer

TRINIDAD, Colo. (AP) — Authorities are investigating after a Trinidad police officer shot and killed a suspect he says pointed a gun at him in a trailer.

Police were called to the Almar Trailer Park on Friday morning on a report of "unauthorized individuals" on the property. An officer began searching a trailer and found one person inside.

The suspect complied with the officer's commands to get on the ground, but he then jumped up and began to run out of the room. Police say he was shot when he turned back at the officer and pointed a gun at him.

According to investigators, a review of the officer's body camera video confirmed the sequence of events.

The name and age of the suspect, who died at a nearby hospital, have not been released.
