Suspect In Fatal Shooting In Thornton Turns Himself In

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Thornton say a suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday night has turned himself in.

According to Matt Barnes with the Thornton Police Department, just after 10 p.m. officers responded to call about a gunshot victim who was taken to the North Suburban Medical Center and pronounced dead.

"Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was involved in a verbal and physical disturbance with a known acquaintance in the 9400 Block of Lilly Court," Barnes said in a statement. "The altercation led to the suspect shooting the victim. The victim was then placed in a car and driven to the hospital emergency room by the known acquaintances."

Barnes said police were looking for Jeremiah Charles Hooker, 24, from Aurora who was wanted in connection with the shooting. Hooker turned himself in to police Sunday afternoon

"Police are still attempting to determine a motive for the altercation," Barnes said.

The victim's name is being withheld by police until they can notify next of kin.
