Snow Biker Killed In Avalanche Identified

SALIDA, Colo. (AP) — Authorities have identified a 58-year-old man who was killed in an avalanche while riding a snow bike near Buena Vista in central Colorado.

The Chaffee County Sheriff's Office says Ron Brabander of Woodland Park died Friday in the accident.

A group of snowmobilers near the summit of Cottonwood Pass heard a large avalanche just after noon on Friday and went to investigate. They found tracks near the slide and notified a search-and-rescue team that was in the area for avalanche training.

Rescuers went to the slide and saw a snow bike ski tip sticking out of the snow. They then found the buried victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
