Rosenberg's Bagels Reopens Months After Murder, Fire

DENVER (CBS4)- Rosenberg's Bagels opened on Sunday for the first time since a murder and arson investigation in the apartment above forced its closure in May.

Employees of the bagel shop were excited to get back to work.

"Sundays were always our busiest day and I've very grateful to say we had so much support over the summer, that anticipation has really been kind of mounting," said Rosenberg's Bagel employee Rachael Wilson.

On Saturday afternoon, all the final preparations had been done inside the bagel and delicatessen shop. Private events over the previous two days prepared the staff for the reopening.

"It just felt so good to have energy in this place," said Wilson.

Rosenberg's in Five Points has been closed since May 2 when crews found Shane Richardson, 29, after putting out the fire in an apartment unit above Rosenberg's at Welton Street and 26th Avenue.

Police arrested Brian Pattison in Richardson's, 29, death. Investigators believe he set the fire to cover up the murder.

The closure gave the owner and his business partners time to concentrate on other aspects of the business like expanding their product line and a second location that will offer more New York-style openings.
