Mayor Hancock Announces New Initiative To Reduce Traffic Deaths In Denver

DENVER (CBS4) - The City of Denver is launching a new initiative to reduce traffic deaths.

Mayor Michael Hancock on Wednesday launched Denver's Vision Zero. The goal is to eliminate all traffic deaths and serious injuries on Denver's roadways.

The Denver Police Department, Denver Public Works and Denver Health are collaborating with the city on the project.

"Today Denver commits to reducing fatal crashes year over year to make our streets safe for those walking, biking, riding and driving," Hancock said.

In the coming months the city will develop a comprehensive action plan.

For this year Vision Zero will focus on street design, enforcement, education and community partnerships.
